Propagation of clonal plum rootstocks by hardwood cuttings

Rooting percentage and root number, weight and diameter were compared, with and without indol butiric acid application, among Myrobalan B, Myrobalan 29-C, Myrobalan 2265, and Marianna 2624 plum cuttings. IBA always hastened rooting. Marianna 2624 and Myrobalan 29-C gave the largest rooting percentages. Root fresh weight, number, and base diameter were similar among rootstocks. However, in Marianna 2624, a 5 cm longitudinal cut at the baseincreased rooting, compared with removing the bark of 2 cm at both sides of the base of each cutting.
