Fusarium sotani was isolated from chickpea plants showing reduced growth, premature d(Ving, leaves turning vellow and then light brown, and ultimatelv death. Affected plants, when uprooted, showed distinctive collar and root lesions, but absence of vascular discoloration. Pathogenicity of F. sotani was demonstrated through inoculations in the greenhouse, where chickpeas were seeded into artificially infected soil. The fungus was reaaily recovered frorn emerged seedl ings, showing root rot symptoms. |
