Studies were carried out at La Platina Research Station (INIA), Santiago, Chile, during the seasons 1983/84 and 1984/85. The first season, Alsystin (Triflumuron) 3,000 cc/ha; Azomark (Monocrotofos + Fenvalerato) 500 cc/ ha, Baytroid 0.50 SL (Cyfluthrin) 500 cc/ha; Dipel (Bacillus thuringiensis) 1 kg/ha; Fastac (Alfametrina) 126 cc/ha; Tamaron 600 c.s. (Metamidofos) 1,000 cc/ha; Tokuthion 500 (Prothiofos) 1,500 cc/ha; and a check (no insecticide), applied every 1 5 days (four applications) were compared in a randomized blocks experiment, with four replications. In the second season, applications of Baytroid (Cyfluthrin) 500 cc/ha every 7 days; the same insecticide, each time 100 males were caught in a trap; and a check (no insecticide) were compared, in a randomized blocks experiment, with two replications. The most effective products were Cyfluthrin and Alfametrina, both pyretroids of short withholding period. It was also found that treating with an average capture of 100 males/trap/day, gravean effective control of the pest. |
