The behavior of 62 potato varieties as affected by the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita acrita was evaluated under field as well as greenhouse conditions. All of them showed some degree of infection:knots and deformations were observed on the tuber surface. Varieties commonly used in Chile suchas Pimpernel, Cunea, Corahila, Grata, Sedafen, Cosima, Condar, Gineke and Centinela, showed infection varyng from slight to severe, therefore their seed - tubers account as important carriers of the parasite because of their large distribution and commercialization. |
