In order to determine the effect of the gametocide Hybrex on the androgenic capacity of wheat, anther donor plants were treated with 1.4 g/L of the product before microspores reached the stage of meiosis. Anthers with microspores at the late uninucleate stage were plated in N6 basal media, after a cold pretreatment (4 ºC for 2 to 3 days). Induced calli were transferred to a regeneration media for plantlet induction. Hybrex had a significant effect in augmenting from 2 to 20 times callus per anther induction on the breeding lines, but plantlet obtention was significantly increased only in one ofthe breeding Iines. |
