ABSTRACT
IMMOBILIZACIÓN OF BEAN COMMON BLIGHT BACTERIA (Xanthomonas phaseoli) IN LEAVES OF TERAPY BEAN (Phaseolus acutifolius) RESISTANT TO THIS DISEASE

Populations of Xanthomonas phaseoli (bean common blight bacteria) remained at staionary phase and the declined in inoculated leaves of the resistant Terapy bean (Phaseolus acutifolius); in inoculated leaves of the susceptible Tuscola bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), Xp populations exhibited the typical logarithmic, stationary, and decline phases. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that the Xp cells were attached o the host cell walls in the leaves of the resistant Terapy, but not in the susceptible Tuscola cv. Attachment appeared 18 hr after leaf inoculation, well before the visible appearance of hypersensitivity.
