Adapted parasites for the aphids Stibion avenae and Metopolophium dirhodum, are urgently needed in Chile. Such parasites occur in the Palearctic region North America, and a plan to acquiere, propagate and colonize those parasites, has been developed. It is impossible to predict the degree of impact that these parasites will have on the population of the cereals aphids, but the cost demanded by the introduction of the parasites is minimal in comparison with the economical losses caused by the aphids, so it must be faced without hesitation. |
