Two field trials were carried out at the Platina Experimental Station where the effect of bulb storage an two different planting distances on onion seed production were studied using an sproutin resistant cultivar. The best result were obtained with bulbs storage in commercial warehouse conditions (8-14ºC) as to the number of seedstalk and seed yield produced. A delay of 10-15 days on plants emergency was observed in the field in bulbs stored in commercial warehouse conditions with a 30 days treatment at 4ºC before planting. No significnat differences (P < 0.05) were observed in plant hight, number of seedstalk and seed yield, with the spacing (15 and 20 cm on the rows) studied. In both trials higher yields were obtained using the spacing 15 cm, but they were not statistically different from those in the 20 cm treatment. |
