The acceptability and goitrogenic properties of rapessed oil meal (solvent extracted) fed as a supplement of maize silage were two factors analized from the results obtained in three experiments with fattening steers. Levels of up to 16% of rapessed oil meal in the diet did not affect consumption of the supplement or ot the total ration with intakes of 12 to 16 g DM/Kg0.75 per day durin periods ranging from 60 to 140 days. It also indicated the absence of any physiological damage at cellular level in the thyroids which could have influenced their normal activity and/or the animal performance. |
