The table grafting technique was studied in grape vines using the varieties Pais and Carignan as rootstocks and Cabernet Souvignon, Moscatel de AlejandrÃa ovoide, Moscatel de AlejandrÃa redonda, Moscatel Amarilla, Semillón, Cot Rouge, Merlot and Riesling as budded varieties. The grafts were made with a manual grafting machine using the double tongue system. Once the grafts were made, the cuttings were placed in beans with wood shavings, to favour the development of callus, for a period of 17-51 days. After this time, rate and percentage of callus development was measured. A high percentage of callus development was obtained independently of the varieties used as rootstocks. No differences were observed between the varieties used as rootstocks, in callus development. Also, no relation was found between the rate and percentage of callus development. |
